A third of youth ages 9—19 say they have received sexual or nasty comments on the computer while only one in 20 parents say they are aware of this unsolicited communication. (Survey from children-go-online.net) With cyber bullying, social networks that exclude parents, the pornography industry launching movies for the iPod video, many parents are struggling to understand what is happening let alone sift through the overwhelming amount of cyber choices. To avoid technology confusion, parents need to be aware of the safeguards that are available so that children can be protected from the dangers that are present in cyber space. This free seminar, presented by Mark Strohm, principal of Delaware County Christian School’s Elementary division, is geared for parents of children who are on the internet. The seminar will present valuable information to provide timely help for parents seeking to make decisions that will protect children from unsolicited exposure to questionable material. The online world can be of great benefit to your family. By scheduling this 90 minute seminar you will help equip parents to ensure it is the “good” and not the “bad” that children come in contact with! |
